A MIRACLE FOR CHRISTMAS

“A Miracle for Christmas” by Shelley Chester is a heartwarming and poignant screenplay that expertly weaves together the stories of multiple characters who find themselves at the precipice of despair just days before Christmas. At its core, the screenplay is a narrative about faith, hope, and the power of community, with each character's journey symbolizing different facets of human resilience and the importance of believing in miracles. The character of Chris, the bright-eyed twelve-year-old, embodies youthful optimism and determination. His decision to take matters into his own hands, despite his young age, reflects the innocence and unyielding hope that often characterize childhood. Chris's relationship with Hope, a once-successful vice president now homeless, is a particularly significant element of the story. Hope’s name itself serves as a powerful symbol throughout the screenplay, embodying the concept of faith and the belief that, no matter how dire circumstances may seem, there is always a chance for redemption and renewal. Thematically, *“A Miracle for Christmas”* is rich in its exploration of faith, both religious and secular. The characters are bound together by their collective belief that something greater than themselves can intervene and change their fates. The screenplay doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities of life, but it balances these with a message of hope and the belief that miracles can and do happen. “A Miracle for Christmas” is a screenplay that resonates with universal themes of hope, faith, and the power of community. The screenplay is a testament to the idea that no matter how difficult life becomes, there is always the possibility of a miracle, especially when faith and community come together. FLIGHT DECK

SECRET IN THE TRIANGLE

Shelley Chester’s screenplay, Secret in the Triangle, offers a captivating exploration of one of the most enigmatic phenomena in history: the Bermuda Triangle. Through a narrative that seamlessly blends supernatural intrigue with the resolve of human spirit, Chester crafts a story that is both suspenseful and deeply resonant, anchored by strong, dynamic female characters who defy the often-limited roles traditionally offered to older women in cinema. At the heart of Secret in the Triangle lies a deep exploration of generational ties, particularly the relationship between Mickey Jameson, a driven marine archaeologist, and her granddaughter, Caddy. This intergenerational bond is a central theme of the screenplay, reflecting not just a passing of the torch, but a blending of wisdom and youthful curiosity that is crucial to solving the mysteries that unfold. Chester, in her writer’s statement, emphasizes her commitment to showcasing women over sixty as vital, active participants in society, and Mickey Jameson embodies this ethos with grace and determination. She is not simply a relic of the past but a central figure whose experience and resilience drive the narrative forward. Supernatural elements in Secret in the Triangle are woven into the narrative with a deft hand, never overshadowing the human drama at the core of the story. These elements serve to heighten the stakes, providing external manifestations of the internal struggles faced by the characters. The encounters with inexplicable entities and the government intrigue that complicates the mission add layers of tension, yet they also offer opportunities for the characters to demonstrate courage and resolve in the face of the unknown. Chester’s inclusion of these elements suggests a worldview in which the supernatural is not an aberration but an integral part of the fabric of existence, challenging the characters to expand their understanding of what is possible.
